What personal data we collect 

Depending on how you interact with our website, we may collect: 

Booking and reservation data — when you book a room, cabin, suite, or activity through our reservation system, we (or our booking platform, Moder) collect your name, email address, phone number, arrival and departure dates, number of guests, and any special requests you provide.  

When you book with us, we (or our booking platform Moder) may collect personal data to provide services, manage the customer relationship, and contact the customer as needed. Finnish law (Laki majoitus- ja ravitsemistoiminnasta 2006/308 6 §) requires us to store traveller information for 1 year.  

Contact form submissions — when you use a contact or inquiry form on our site, we collect the name, email address, and message content you provide. 

Website usage data — we use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use our site. This may include your approximate location, browser and device type, pages visited, and time spent on the site. This data is generally aggregated and does not directly identify you. 

Cookies — our site uses cookies for essential site functionality, and may use analytics and/or marketing cookies. See Section 7 below. 

Why we process your data (legal basis) 

Performance of a contract — to process and manage your booking, respond to your inquiries, and provide the services you request. 

Legitimate interest — to maintain and improve our website, ensure security, and understand how visitors use our site. 

Consent — for optional cookies (analytics/marketing) and newsletter communications, where required by law. You can withdraw consent at any time. 

Legal obligation — for example, retaining booking/invoice records as required by Finnish accounting law. 

Who we share your data with 

We may share your personal data with: 

  • Moder, to process your reservation. 
  • Stipe, to process payments securely. We do not store full payment card details ourselves. 
  • Google (Google Analytics, and Google Business Profile if you interact with us there), for website analytics. 

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. 

International data transfers 

Some of the services we use (for example, Google Analytics) may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Where this happens, these providers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. 

How long we keep your data 

  • Booking and invoice records: kept for  
  • Contact form inquiries: kept for [insert, e.g. 12 months] unless a booking or ongoing relationship requires longer retention. 
  • Analytics data: retained according to Google Analytics’ default retention settings, or as configured in your account
